How it works

Estima helps development teams estimate tasks by using clear criteria and Fibonacci-based scoring. This ensures consistent and collaborative decision-making.

Criteria

Tasks are evaluated using four criteria, each rated as Low (1), Medium (2), or High (3):

  • Complexity: How challenging the task is in terms of logic and requirements.
  • Effort: The time and energy required to complete it.
  • Risk: The level of uncertainty or potential blockers.
  • Dependencies: Any reliance on other teams or resources.

Fibonacci Scoring

Developers choose a score from the Fibonacci sequence to represent story points (SP): 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, or 13.

Key Calculations

  • Mode: The most common rating for each criterion.
  • Divergence: How many developers chose differently from the mode.
  • SP Range: The difference between the highest and lowest chosen SP.

Color-Coded Feedback

Estima uses colors to indicate how well the team agrees:

  • Green: Full agreement on SP, minimal divergence.
  • Orange: Slight disagreement but acceptable.
  • Red: Significant disagreement or uncertainty.

In case of ties, the higher SP is selected for clarity.

Why Use Estima?

Estima simplifies and structures task estimation by:

  • Ensuring everyone considers the same criteria.
  • Highlighting areas of disagreement for further discussion.
  • Providing a clear and visual summary of team alignment.
